Guardianships by nature are intended to be permanent in nature and are useful when a biological parent is not able to care for their child(ren). Can be for a definite period of time or indefinite though unless specified, the court can view the guardianship permanent. Guardianships may be a good alternative to Legal Custody or Caretaker Affidavit, or Power of Attorney.
