Divorce and Depression

Divorce is often followed by depression, trauma and would take long time to get over with, though not as long as recovering from a high conflict marriage.  When a couple cannot live as husband and wife and one or both decide to divorce, choosing the right attorney is extremely important.

There are several persons that will be important as you maneuver through the process of the divorce, the first is your family, second friends, third a therapist and finally an attorney. The first two are incredibly obvious and do not need an explanation, the third is a therapist or counselor.  A person you can rant and rave to for 50 minutes and if the therapist is qualified, can provide you with coping skills to help you through the process.  Finally, an attorney that can explain the process and has the patience to calm your concerns.  If there are children involved, please monitor there friends, school and reactions closely.  Especially the teenagers that say they don’t care, or its no big deal, it is a big deal.  If the children will not talk to you, find a relative, grandparent or counselor that pester your child, or children until they talk, yell or scream.  Either way, the children will know you love them and they have a support system.

Good luck and remember, nothing very bad, nor very good, lasts for very long.
